The Ellern Mede Service provides a highly specialist inpatient treatment service for young people (children and adolescents) suffering from eating disorders such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and other disorders involving eating difficulties, including Pervasive Refusal Syndrome (PRS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, "ME", "post viral fatigue syndrome"), Conversion Disorder and Depression.
The Service offers three different, complementary, in-patient treatment programmes in order to cater for different presentations, varying degrees of motivation and a broad spectrum of dependency needs. All three programmes offer highly skilled nursing care and tailored therapeutic approaches which include milieu therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, and group therapy as well as Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
The Ellern Mede School provides high quality education for our young people in dedicated on-site classrooms.
We provide a training programme for professionals and we have a comprehensive research programme which includes a project to develop Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT), a promising new therapy for the treatment of eating disorders.
